The Role
As the APS 5 Logistic Officer within 9th Combat Service Support Battalion you will work as part of the logistics management team that support the 9th Combat Service Support Battalion in meeting operational, exercises and training outcomes. You will be accountable for organising 9th Combat Service Support Battalion workflow and making independent decisions relating to your area of responsibility.
You will interpret and provide advice within the Logistics Management function area based on legislation, policy and procedures. You will undertake specialist research and analysis, assurance checks, conduct assessment and perform procedural, clerical and administrative support work to achieve results. You will apply defence policy, processes, procedures and compliance framework when forecasting, conducting procurement and coordinating logistics in support of operations, exercises and training.

The 9th Combat Service Support Battalion is a multi-disciplinary, integrated team that provides command and control, operational planning, logistics management, training and recruitment functions as part of a number of Defence capabilities in South Australia. 9th Combat Service Support Battalion primarily supports other units within the Brigade.

Our Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an individual who is able to plan, manage and coordinate logistic management functions while fostering good working relationships with personnel at all levels. You will have well developed communication skills, both written and verbal, and be comfortable collaborating with multiple stakeholders. You will be required to prepare instructions, reports and presentations, as well as provide logistic management advice to commanders and other staff.
You must have comprehensive experience in the use of logistic inventory management systems. You will be required to use or be trained to use the Military Integrated Logistic Information System (MILIS), including analysing, interpreting and presenting information and recommendations for regular reporting requirements. You will plan and conduct stocktaking programs, procurement and auditing.
You will have supervisory experience and responsibility of leading, coordinating tasks and personnel reporting in a small team environment. You will be adaptable in meeting the needs of a changeable work environment. You will embrace the requirement for necessary change, identify improvement opportunities and coordinate directed logistic policy improvements.
